How many times has the Democratic Party told us we needed to elect them so they can make sure the rich 'pay their fair share'?
Far too many to count.
The problem with this, of course, is the rich -- unlike the rest of us -- have the means to not only absorb higher tax rates, but to hire lawyers and accountants to minimize their tax burden.
Oh, and they don't really give much in the way of charitable donations. Because the Left doesn't believe in charity unless it comes from the government, and by 'government' I mean 'taxpayers.' Taxpayers like you and me. Everyone and anyone but them.
Yet if you ask the Left, they'll proudly claim they're generous. In a way, I suppose, they are. They're incredibly generous with other people's money.

Case in point:
More than 100 celebrities from across the entertainment industry have signed a letter calling for the protection of funding for a federal program that provides emergency crisis support to LGBTQ+ youth considering suicide.

Despite despising math, I did crunch some numbers.
Ariana Grande's net worth is $230 million.
Daniel Radcliffe's net worth is $110 million.
Sabrina Carpenter's net worth is $12 million.
Pedro Pascal's net worth is $10 million.
That's a total net worth of $362 million for just four of the 100+ celebrities. The funding for the aforementioned LGBTQ suicide prevention line? $50 million. That means each celebrity could give $500,000 and fund that hotline for a year.
But instead of opening their wallets to fund this program -- which they insist is vital to saving the lives of suicidal LGBTQ youth -- they've decided that's the responsibility of the taxpayers, all of whom make far less.
I must question the sincerity of anyone who, when they have the means, refuses to donate their own money to a cause they claim is vital to saving lives. Is this because they don't truly believe it's vital to saving lives? Or because -- and this is far more nefarious -- they hope a body count will help their political agenda?
We've already seen the Left do this with Israel, and they did it by parroting Bono's unsubstantiated claim that USAID cuts have killed 300,000 people in less than six months.
We know how much the Left loves to capitalize on tragedy. The fires from the Boulder, Colorado terror attack weren't even put out before Jamie Raskin decided the solution to an illegal immigrant, pro-Palestinian terrorist who hurled incendiary devices at peaceful marchers was ... to ban our guns.
The Left used the suicide of Oklahoma teen Nex Benedict to blame 'gender policing in bathrooms' and LibsofTikTok.
There isn't a doubt in my mind they'd use the suicide of an LGBTQ child to blame Trump and his cuts to this program. A program they could fund out-of-pocket without having to forgo a meal or two.
As I said above, the Left genuinely believes charity doesn't count, doesn't exist, unless it comes from government (which means some bureaucrat gets a hefty cut of the funding first, of course). So it probably hasn't even crossed these celebrities' minds that they could keep this program alive -- and probably for a lot less than what the government is paying now.
Either way, this is not the responsibility of the taxpayers, and the emotional blackmail doesn't play anymore.
If Grande, Pascal, and their friends want to keep the hotline open, it's time for them to pay their fair share. That's their thing, after all.
